There is no surprise in Carra's delight that Rafa's going to stay the big boss for a long time to come.

The former England defender has flourished since Benitez first took over the reigns five years ago and is looking forward to another half a decade under the Spaniard's expert tutelage.

"Yeah, I am delighted my game has improved a lot since the manager come over the last four or five years and hopefully it will improve again, even though I am getting bit older, over the next four or five years," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"We have won a couple of big trophies but we want to push on in terms of the [Premier League] over these next four or five years and hopefully before I have finished win that one and other trophies as well."

When pressed on whether the constant speculation over the gaffer's future had had a destabilizing effect on the players, Carragher responded, "No, not really. We all have our own issues at times. Even now there are different players probably not sure what they are going to do this season or next season, so that's just part of football.

"But I think it is always better when everything is sorted out and people know exactly what is happening.

"We all have our own issues, at different times, with contracts so we understand what the manager's been through, but hopefully it is sorted now and we can move on for the rest of the season and for future years."
