Keane: Benitez's Methods At Liverpool Are... 'Different'

The Irishman with the effervescent style has some veiled criticism for his former club's Spanish gaffer.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez though seemed to lose faith with the £19 million capture fairly quickly, and the 28-year-old's goal return of seven in 28 attempts was not a ratio that deadly finishers would be bursting with pride about.

Reflecting on his temporary spell at the Merseyside outfit, Keane had some veiled criticisms to sling Benitez's way in the latest edition of Icon Magazine.

He said, "Of course I wish it [the time at Liverpool] had gone differently, but I have no regrets."

With regards to Benitez, and the Spaniard's methods, Keane said, "I do believe with a different manager it would have worked for me, but different managers have different methods and some have different ideas than those you are used to or believe in.

"People have their own opinions of Benitez," he added. "I have nothing against him and will leave people to make their own minds up about him.

"When you’ve been around for a while as a player, all you want is a bit of respect and to be treated the way you feel you deserve to be," Keane concluded, perhaps alluding to notions of mistreatment and a lack of respect offered to him by Liverpool's Champions League winning boss.
